Membership Terms and Conditions

1. Membership agreement

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your membership with Artevo Jiu Jitsu Academy ("Artevo"), located at any of its premises, including Buderim, Queensland, Australia. By enrolling, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full.

2. Membership fees and billing

Membership types, pricing, and billing cycles are specified at enrolment and may be updated if Artevo has provided you at least 30 days written notice. All fees are charged in advance and are non-refundable, except as required by Law.

  • -All memberships are subject to a minimum term of one calendar month from the date billing commences.
  • -Direct debit memberships continue until cancelled in accordance with clause 5.
  • -Upfront annual payments are non-refundable after 14 days of enrolment.
  • -Family memberships extend only to members of a single immediate family, to a maximum of six participants, and eligibility is determined by Artevo in its sole discretion.

3. Junior memberships

Where the member is under 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian ("Responsible Adult") who signs these Terms accepts full legal responsibility for the junior member's compliance with academy rules, attendance, and conduct. The Responsible Adult also accepts financial responsibility for all fees associated with the membership.

Junior members must be accompanied to and collected from Artevo by a responsible adult unless prior written arrangement has been made with Artevo administration. Artevo accepts no responsibility for the welfare of junior members before or after scheduled class times.

  • -The Responsible Adult must be contactable at all times during junior class sessions.
  • -Any medical or behavioural information relevant to a junior member's safety must be disclosed to the head coach of Artevo prior to the first class.
  • -The Responsible Adult authorises Artevo staff to administer treatment for minor first aid and to make any emergency decisions if the Responsible Adult cannot be readily contacted.

4. Code of conduct

All members are expected to conduct themselves with respect, discipline, and integrity. Artevo may in its sole discretion suspend or terminate any membership for conduct it deems inappropriate, dangerous, or inconsistent with the academy's values. No refund is issued for termination on conduct grounds.

  • -Hygiene standards must be maintained at all times (clean Gi, trimmed nails, no open wounds on the mat).
  • -Inappropriate verbal or physical aggression on the mats will not be tolerated.
  • -Members must tap promptly and respect the tap of others.
  • -No recording of other members without their express consent.

5. Health and medical

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a physically demanding martial art. By enrolling, you confirm you are in suitable physical health to participate. You agree to disclose any relevant medical conditions to your instructor prior to any training session. Artevo is not liable for any injury or health complications arising from undisclosed or underlying conditions.

6. Cancellation and freezing

You may request cancellation of your membership at any time via your member portal or by written notice to info@artevojiujitsu.com.au. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period or at the end of the one-calendar-month minimum term, whichever is later. Memberships may be frozen for up to 8 weeks per calendar year with 7 days prior notice. Frozen periods are not eligible for refund or credit transfer.

7. Facility access

Access is limited to scheduled class times and open mat sessions on the current timetable. Artevo reserves the right to modify the timetable.

8. Intellectual property

All instructional content, curriculum materials, and digital resources produced by Artevo are the academy's intellectual property. Members may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialise this content without its prior written consent.

9. Privacy

Artevo collects personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Data is used solely for membership administration, communication, and safety records. We do not share personal information with third parties except as required by Law.

10. Photographs and media

Artevo may photograph or film classes and events for promotional purposes. By enrolling, you consent to the member's likeness being used in these materials, including on Artevo's website and social media channels, unless you provide written notice to the contrary. This consent is given by the Responsible Adult on the junior member's behalf. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by written notice, which applies to material published after the notice is received.

Separately, Artevo may keep a photograph of the junior member on their member profile for identification and class administration only. This photo is stored securely, is never published or shared, and will be deleted on request by the Responsible Adult.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Law, Artevo's liability is limited to fees paid in the month. Artevo is not liable for indirect or consequential loss of any kind.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
